Dunmow Group is proud to announce the launch of its brand-new, multi-million-pound recycling plant at its main recycling centre in Chelmsford. This landmark investment reinforces the company's long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation, and service excellence in waste management.

Representing a £5,000,000 investment, the cutting-edge Kiverco plant marks a significant milestone for the business. Completed in 13 weeks and fully operational by August, the new facility doubles the processing capacity from the previous plant, which had served since Dunmow Group acquired the site in 2012. The upgraded system can now handle up to 600 tonnes of waste daily, dramatically increasing efficiency and enabling the business to support ever-growing demand while reducing environmental impact.

The facility uses advanced screening and separation technology to maximise material recovery. Waste is sized and conveyed through magnets, screeners, and high-precision mechanical sorting equipment before being separated into 17 dedicated bays for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stone, hardcore, wood, and other recyclable streams. Final quality checks are carried out in specialist picking cabins, ensuring clean, high-grade materials for reuse and Energy from Waste (EfW) or Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) production.

Safety and operational excellence were key drivers of the design. The plant is equipped with real-time CCTV with people detection and thermal imaging, early fire detection, and Fireward fire suppression systems across electrical control cabinets. The improved yard layout and faster material flow also boost service speeds for Essex’s largest fleet of skip trucks.  With this new facility, Dunmow Group can divert significantly more waste from landfill, reduce carbon emissions through improved recycling, and support local businesses and households in meeting sustainability goals. This investment strengthens Dunmow Group’s position as a regional leader in circular waste solutions.

Sam Malins, CEO of Dunmow Group, commented:

This new facility is a major step forward for Dunmow Group. It dramatically increases the amount of waste we can recycle and helps us divert even more material away from landfill and towards sustainable Energy from Waste solutions. By processing waste streams more efficiently and cleanly, we can support our customers faster and more reliably while strengthening our long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation.”
