What is your job role at Dunmow Group?
I’ve worked at Dunmow Group for just shy of five years, and my role is to develop, assist, and grow the metal department alongside Stuart. It’s a varied position that sees me doing everything from meeting customers and collecting metal from site to manning the weighbridge and serving incoming customers. I’m also involved in the water side of the business, which adds even more variety to my day-to-day..
What is the best part of working for Dunmow Group?
What I enjoy most is the variety; no two days are ever the same. One day I could be working at one site, and the next I might be somewhere completely different, doing something entirely new. It keeps things interesting and really broadens your understanding of the different processes across the business.
What is your favourite snack?
Fruit or beef jerky!
What's one thing you've learned since joining the company?
Since joining, I’ve gained a much deeper understanding of the industry as a whole. Having done a range of roles, both operational and office-based, I’ve seen how things work behind the scenes. Before it became Dunmow Group, when it was still Eastern Waste Disposal, I worked in accounts receivable. Back then, I didn’t have any involvement in the yard or the operational side, so it’s been a real eye-opener.
What is something that people don't know about you?
I used to learn Mandarin after school during secondary school.
Who's someone on the team you admire and why?
That would have to be Stuart Haslam. He’s always optimistic and finds the positives, even in tough situations. He’s got an impressive level of industry knowledge and is a really personable guy.
If you could learn a new skill instantly, what would it be?
The ability to understand and speak any language.

What's the most unusual thing in your desk drawer?
Vaseline…
