Dunmow Group Play in 'Waste World Cup 2022' In Support Of Wasteaid UK.

On the 1st of July, Dunmow Group entered The Waste World Cup for the second year in a row. With back-to-back 6 a-side games across the day, waste management companies from all over the UK played to win not just for their company, but to become the winners

The Waste World Cup is the the waste and recycling industry's premier sporting event, seamlessly combining a day of football with quality networking The event was hosted by Lets Recycle and Environment Media Group, and over £5,000 was raised for the independent UK Charity, Wasteaid.

 

Wearing the same kit as last year, Dunmow Group hoped for another Vase win. With fresh legs on the pitch, it was time to start the game.

The Dunmow dream team consisted of players from across the group; Dunmow, Fireward and Reacton. The line-up for the day included Joe Brookes, Adam Samson, Leszek Sikorski, Raf Zabierek, Sasha Moy, Tony Sharman, Anthony Jemeriah and Liam Liddiatt.

Starting in Group G, the results from the first five games were as follows:
Dunmow Group 0 - 2 Shred Station
Dunmow Group 3 - 0 Acumen
Dunmow Group 0 - 0 Business Waste

Dunmow secured a spot in the quarter-finals, with the game ending in penalties, resulting in the team scoring the final penalty to push them to the quarter-finals. With the team giving it everything they had,  Dunmow were knocked out of the tournament with a 2-0 loss.
