Beth Aspinall, Treasurer from PTA (SMILE) reached out to Dunmow Group on behalf of Moulsham Infant School in Chelmsford, Essex last month asking if we could help them with a long-term garden project for the school.

To kick start the project off, Dunmow donated Moulsham Infants with a 6-yard skip. During the winter months, damp and water damage had ruined a lot of the items stored in the school shed which needed to be cleared to make room for new storage. By Dunmow donating the skip, the school's budget can be spent on other important resources for the nature area project.

Moulsham Infants are trying to raise around £15,000 for a large garden project with a range of different areas for science lessons and sensory activities. The project has a much higher budget than their usual projects as the grounds have a problematic tulip tree that must be protected.

The plans include a raised pond area for the children to do pond dipping and learn about different topics. There is also room for a nature reserve to be built for the children to learn more about wildlife and allow them to make bug hotels, hedgehog houses and bird boxes.

We plan to help build these wildlife houses for the project by using and supplying recycled wood from our Chelmsford Recycling Center to ensure the project is sustainable. Dunmow Group has plans to help Moulsham Infant School in the future I as many ways as we can with the garden project, which we will continue to share across our social channels.

Over the next 18-months the school is hosting various events to fundraise, within the next few weeks the school will host a quiz night, a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale and a Mother's Day family day. We wish Moulsham Infants the best of luck fundraising!
