Skip Hire Preparation:

Ordering a skip from Dunmow Group is simple, you can either use our online booking service or give us a call and talk to one of our advisors. We want to ensure that your delivery process is as smooth as possible, saving you from any problems on the day of delivery. Below are some typical common issues we can encounter while delivering a skip.

Shared Driveway and Manhole Safety:

Is your driveway adjoined to your neighbours? It’s worth ensuring that any skip you’d like to hire will fit on your side of the driveway. If you’re friends with your neighbour, they may let you use their side. Please check first before the skip has been placed, as we are unable to move it until your collection date.

We are happy to place the skip in your chosen location but please also note that manhole covers may not withstand the weight of a skip or truck placed on them. To avoid any damage to your driveway, we will avoid these when delivering or dropping off.

If you don't have a driveway, we can place a skip on the road but this will require a special permit which we can obtain for you upon booking.

Manoeuvrability and Turning Space:

If you live down a narrow road or cul-de-sac, delivery of a skip can be a little more difficult to manoeuvre our larger lorries. The best preparation is to call our office on 01245 466646 to let us know of tight spaces, low-lying walls or parked cars so our planners can choose a smaller lorry for your delivery or re-route the vehicle to another appropriate time.

Gates or Site Access:

If your property has gated access, please ensure our drivers can enter when delivering and collecting the skip. If the gate requires a code and you are not going to be home, you can call us before and we can have our driver enter the code on your behalf. Please also double-check that the width of the gate is big enough for our lorry to enter.

Overhead Restrictions:

Overhead height restrictions such as low-lying trees, phone lines, power or train lines can cause difficulty when delivering a skip. Please notify us beforehand if you have any of these near your property/site so we can prepare for a safe delivery and see if your property is accessible.

Below is a chart with our skip lorry sizing to help you:
