Job Summary:
The senior accounts assistant role is a supporting role to the financial controller and credit controller. You will be expected to assist in the smooth running of the department by providing enthusiastic and professional assistance to the team to ensure the business operates within the culture we demand.

- The candidate will be expected to aid with many aspects of the finance department, from basic book-keeping to preparation of reports for board level reporting requirements;

- Good Microsoft Excel and Word skills are necessary;

- Patience, persistence and excellent written and verbal communication skills are also important, as you will be assisting in rolling out new processes and procedures across the business to improve overall efficiency.
Key Accountabilities:
- Book-keeping and reconciliation of the purchase ledger accounts;
- Investigating and dealing with any purchase ledger discrepancies;
- Assisting in the book-keeping of the bank accounts;
- Generally assisting in the maintenance of accurate and accounting records;
- Producing of ad-hoc reports as required by management;
- Assisting the credit controller with the recovery of debts;
- Problem solving within the team, procedure designing and aiding smooth running of the business in general;
- Assistance with weekly payroll, eventually leading to running weekly payroll;
- Responding to customer queries and providing assistance where necessary to resolve issues;
- Liaising with various teams to ensure communication channels flow between the departments;
- Assistance with the month end management accounts including preparation and reconciliation of the working papers;
- Assisting with paperless office project;
- Ensure monthly processing deadlines are met as required;
- Assistance with the preparation and filing of VAT returns;
- Assistance with annual audited financial statements preparation;
- Assistance with budgeting, cash flow forecasting and general ad-hoc reporting requirements;
- Assistance with maintaining the financial ledgers in other group companies from time to time;
- Other duties as delegated from time to time by the Financial Controller or any other person designated in their absence.

- Payroll experience is preferred but not essential.
- Sage 50 Accounts experience is essential.
- Minimum of AAT Level 3 qualification and 2 years experience preferred.
